Need Vocals for Upcoming Track!

Comments

you have lyrics?

Just make up your own. Be creative and just think of what the song should be about! Love story, emotions, anything you want that you think will sound good. Maybe hold you voice on a note on a chorus. Go for it!

Wooo! Another Ableton user! High five XD

YAY :D

Can't see the project, can you send a new link or something like that?

I'll invite you

Whoa! Just got the instrumental through. Sounds swick! I'll have a few more listens and see if i can come up with something. Do you just want a dry vocal track, or can i mess around with glitching it up + effects 'n' stuff too?

Just a dry, high quality vocal track will do. however, this instrumental is not the final version. If there are changes, it wouldn't be any more than mastering and eq'ing the song for the vocals. It's my first ever song with vocals and I'm pretty excited about it.

If you can, first try to upload it the the file share in the project area. If it doesn't work just email me! :)

If you are first to get a good vocal track, I will feature the runner ups in one or two other songs since they are also quite similar.

Hi again, sorry for the wait, I finally got the chance to have a real in-depth look at the track. The song structure seems pretty complex (in a good way), so I wondered, vocal wise, were you looking for a typical verse-chorus-breaks, type structure, or something like, verse-hook-glitched upness (or maybe something in between). Think "The Veldt" by deadmau5 or "Summit" by Skrillex? Are there any places where you don't want vocals or specifically do want vocals. Also, again looking very closely, I'm not sure whether there are some rogue bass notes coming in (short but noticable). Another thing I thought was, while I REALLY like the piece as a whole, it might want some more subs to fill in the 50-100Hz band, just so you can feel the bass as well as hear it, maybe just in the loud sections? Look at the track through Ableton's spectrum and you'll see what I mean (you'll see the possible rogue bass notes as well). Again, it's just a suggestion and It may not even work, but if it was me, I'd think it worth a try. All in all I'm really liking it, I just want some of your input before I get down to drafting a melody/lyrics. Also what version of Ableton are you on? (just out of curiosity). I'm on Live 8 (with the Sampler addon).

I'm on Live 8 suite. The track itself isn't fully mastered yet and may alter this layout in some places. I'm planning of sorting out the frequency issues you mentioned once I get the vocals into the mix. I have found that this tune may seem to be difficult to add lyrics in some places. but you can do what ever you what with your own vocals.

"The Veldt" style vocals is exactly what I want (since I love that tune!). You could do some harmonies to your own voice on perfect 5ths covering the mid and high band.

Lyric wise, I have thought up something along the lines of "Technicolor" or "Uncertainty", but the rest is up to you!

All I really need is 1 or 2 verses and maybe a chorus since I will be editing it around the track for the meantime.
You have a very broad knowledge of music making!
This is my first project I have ever done with vocals and I will need people like you in future for a few other projects that are just sitting there waiting for vocals to be added.
All I need is a clean track of you singing what ever you think sounds best on top of it and I will do the rest! :)

Hi again (again) XD. Got the message, I'll see what I can muster up XD. I have some busy stuff on this week, but I'll try my best to get back to you as soon as I can. I know waiting for other people's work can sometimes be a real pain, and I'll try my best not to be that pain XD
"The Veldt" is a really kickass track. I'll see what I can do on harmonies, they're always a good thing to mess around with. I shall try my best with lyrics in that feeling. I think 2 verses and a chorus should be a good way to go. I'll try my best for that and cut those into 3 files (+any extra harmonies) so you can arrange them how you want.
Thanks for the vote of confidence XD. I'm certainly not pro, but it's come to that point where my imagination is my limit more than my skills. If you need a hand in anything music related, give me a buzz and I'll do my best to lend a hand. I'll start drafting up a vocal line/lyrics and hopefully get back to you soon. :D
Nice stuff with Live 8 suite. I miss operator quite a bit from when I was using the demo, but Sampler's the only addon I just couldn't live without XD. The whole software is such a nice piece of kit! Have you seen any of the new Ableton 9 stuff yet? It looks freakin awesome (audio to midi pitch conversion + stuff like the spectral analyser inside eq8!!!), but I think it's gonna be a looooong time before I can even think about upgrading.

Awesome. Ableton Live 9 looks like a programme worth getting. I tend to use a raw analog more than an operator in most cases. The 3 separate files idea will be awesome. Do not worry about where the vocals wont fit cos I think I might plan to do some rearranging of the track since it's 7 minutes long!

If you want to do some more vocal work like "Veldt", my other upcoming track is a lot more minimalist house. Which should be a lot more flexible to work with vocals.

After finishing this current track, I would be more than happy to have you do vocals for the next one I'm working on. :)

For the time being, let me know as soon as you can for when you have finished producing your vocals. When you're done, send them to me, and I'll deal with mixing and mastering the rest!

You are doing a good good job from the sounds of it! And I much appreciate a vocalist who knows his music technology! :P

Hehe, you haven't even heard my voice yet, though I'm very happy by your confidence in me XD. Yeah, it is a pretty long track, though arrangement wise it does still fit. Anyways, whatever works best for you, an alternative arrangement is often a good way to get a different perspective on a track.

Ooo sounds exciting! If my inner and outer lyricists will let me I'd love to give it a go, or even do some more collab work in a musical and vocal sense. Thanks for the compliment XD. It looks like a few projects are coming to the end of their busy parts at the end of this week, so I should be able to put all my effort into this one next week. I'll buzz you again when I get some parts done. This is all very exciting!

Awesome. I would love to hear a previous work you have done that includes your voice. Let me knwo when you've done somethingand I'll have a good listen! :P

Take a look at http://soundcloud.com/jabun "Apollo - Chillstep". That's my voice in an electronic setting. There's also the "Better Than The Book - One Small Step EP [Full EP]" which shows a different side to my vocal tone and alot more of my range (That's skapunkish). I've got a fairly good range (those 2 are more in my mids and highs) and quite a mailable tone, so If you want a certain sounding voice, I can give it a go (obviously I can't change my gender though HEHE XD). I'd say those are 2 good and recent examples of my "neutral voice".

A load of projects just came to a close today, so I can give this one my full concentration now. I've started drafting some lyrics (I'll try for 2 verses and a chorus to begin with but we can discus stuff later). I'll hopefully get some recordings to you next week; as long as it's not raining during the day, I should be able to get some decent recording done. I'll send you an Email later on in the week with regards progress. Sorry it's taken so long to get to it, it's just been a fun but hectic time lately XD

Speak to you soon!

I love the lyrics you send me. They suits the song very well. You also have a very unique voice on your other projects. One question is how slow/fast are you going to sing the lyrics?

I'm kinda looking for a vocal style that's in time and un-strained (yet not relaxed).
Apart from that I think you are pretty much ready to record as long as it's not done on a laptop/webcam microphone! XD

Yo, I've send the lyrics for you to look over to your hotmail. Give me a buzz if you like them and I'll get them recorded. Also I just found out some building work's starting on my house next week, so I'll have to get as much stuff done as I can this week. Hopefully the building work won't last too long...

Glad you liked the lyrics (and my voice :D). I think I know what kinda vocal tone you're after, so I shall do my best to find it XD. I'll give recording a stab tomorrow and send you over the results, and don't worry; I'll be using my trusty SM27 XD. With regards the pace of the lyrics, I guess you'll see when I sing them, but writing them (and singing them to the melody in my head), I think it sounds fitting. Talk to you soon :D

AWESOME! Can't wait!
PS: If you are doing harmonies, make sure each vocal line is on a separate track.
PPS: Nice Choice in Microphone
PPPS: Unless your microphone is ultra sensitive. I could suggest noise-gating it if you were to record with a lot of background noise.

I've sent some audio to your hotmail, but I'm gonna give it another go tomorrow (no harm in doing so and I might as well while I can). Let me know your thoughts.
PS: Of course :D
PPS: Why thank you! XD
PPPS: Nah, it's pretty darn sensitive, which is good, buuuuut... XD I've got into the habit of manually chopping out noise rather than using a noise gate, but I imagine it'll be too distracting/loud to be able to get any decent recording done in those conditions anyway. Next week's gonna be purely non microphonic for me : |

Ah ok. I've been a bit teid up recently with other projects recently but I will try to finish the vocal cutting soon. I will let you know when I'm into the mastering stage or when I might need a few more recording.
I'll keep you up to date with the progress of the project! :)

No worries. I've been pretty busy recently myself so there's no rush. I look forward to hearing how it sounds :D

Had to delete all non contributing artists. I'll inform you on any new info on upcoming songs in the future! :D
